PRINCESS DEBUTANTE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How do I apply?
Step 1. Text Deb2021 to 855-949-5367 and complete the six questions Interest Form to reserve your seat.
Step 2. Prepare your 300-word essay, “Why I want to be a Debutante” to include
“My plans after graduation”.
Step 3. Complete the online application and upload your 300-word essay.
Step 4. Submit your $40 registration fee upon submission of application.
Step 5. Ask your teacher, counselor, or church official to complete your recommendation form.
Step 6. Send the Recommendation Form link to two different people for them to complete.
Step 7. Request your transcript from your school Registrar. Have the Registrar forward your transcript to:

2. When does the program begin?
The Debutante program is a six-month program, beginning January 2021 through June 2021.
We will host monthly workshops and/or community involvement activities. A few months may present multiple opportunities, (For example: Regular workshop and a community involvement event). All Debs will receive points for each attended activity and/or event. Dates and Locations will be advised later.
3. When are the transcripts and letters of recommendation due by?
Letters of recommendation are submitted electronically, due by December 20th, 2020. Transcripts must be mailed no later than December 15th to receive and process as part of Debutante application by the notification date.
4. Safety Issues/Requirements?
We are so excited to present this program and we collectively feel with so much going on around us at this time, we all look forward to positive, uplifting, an awarding event. However, we are also cognizant of our current state and we want everyone to remain healthy. Therefore, we will follow all safety protocols of wearing face mask at our monthly meetings, activities, and community involvement events. We are hopeful by June 2021, mask will not be required, however, if so, the Event Committee will provide each Deb with a white mask to wear at the Ball during her Debut. Please note: Mask will not be worn for the formal Deb individual pictures.
5. How will the winner be chosen?
Great question and thank you for asking! Each Deb will receive points for everything she does, (For example: Extracurricular activities, workshop attendance, attendance at community involvement events, ad sales, jobs, GPA, bank savings account, (Amount does not matter, just having one and making regular deposits), participation at meetings, etc. Please note, suspensions, improper/unladylike attitude and behavior at workshops or any group activities could potentially cause point deductions or removal from program.
6. What are the amounts of the Scholarships?
At the time of this writing, we have secured three scholarships awards. $500, $700, and $1000.
7. Will there be any other recognitions or awards given?
One young lady will be crowned Ms. Deb – 2021 with two runner ups. The Debs will collectively select Ms. Congeniality of the group. There will be other recognitions such as Ms. Community Service, and Hardest Working. There may be other acknowledgments or awards to come as other donations are received.
8. When will the ball be held?
The Debutante Ball will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Legendary Vapors at 315 Park Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
9. When will I know if I was accepted?
The event committee will notify all prospective Debutantes and their Parent(s) by email on December 27, 2020 between 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. CST. If accepted, the Debutante and the Parent(s) MUST reply within three days by midnight, December 30, 2020 your acceptance and terms of agreeance that was provided: Monthly Workshops Attendance, (Unless previously discussed), Financial Obligations, Ball Gown Requirements, Souvenir Ad Protocol, etc.
10. How much ads must I sell?
Each Deb and her family are responsible to purchase/sell a MINIMUM of $250.00 in ads for the Princess Debutante Scholarship Program souvenir booklet. Of course, the more you sell, the more points you earn.
Please check with your family, churches, local organizations, businesses to sell and advertise their business while showing their support towards you and your accomplishments.
11. Can I purchase/sell more than $250.00 in Souvenir Booklet Ads?
Yes, you may. The more ads you sell, the more points you will receive.
12. What if I cannot sell any ads?
This is your “Debut”, and a lot of work has gone into this six-month program to make it special for you. If you are unwilling to sell any ads, you are still responsible to submit a MINIMUM of $250.00 by the FINAL MAY 1st, 2021 collection date.
13. What is the deadline date to turn in all ads/monies?
To assist our Finance/Souvenir Book Committees, all Debs will have the opportunity to turn in ads/monies at their monthly workshops. However, the FINAL collection date is May 1st, 2021.
14. Can I wear my strapless prom dress for the Debutante Ball?
No! Although strapless dresses are beautiful, they also come with risk of falling/slipping down or too much exposure. This mishap would require the Deb to constantly be pulling it up or have too much exposure. Therefore, the Event Committee requires ALL DRESS have straps, not be form fitting, no extreme jewel wedding dresses, and MUST BE Approved by the Event Committee.
15. Where can I get a Debutante Dress from?
Goodwill, Thrift Stores, Consignment Shops, Classified, Friend, David’s Bridal, etc.
Please remember, no strapless, form fitting or extreme jewel wedding dresses.
16. What kind of shoes will I need?
Great question! You will be in your dresses for hours and we do not want anyone walking bare foot around the venue. The Waltz will be performed on carpet. Therefore, ALL DEBS are required to purchase flat white or tan ballerina shoes with a smooth sole. The smooth sole is a requirement to allow you to make your turns and curtesy’s at ease on the carpeted floor.
17. Are there any makeup and hair restrictions?
Makeup and hair styles are allowed. Examples will be shared with the Debutantes during upcoming workshops and prep for celebratory ball.
18. What happens to the businesses ads/monies if we are not able to have the Ball on June 12, 2021 due to the Pandemic?We are hopeful we will be blessed to move forward with our once a month workshops and The Debutante Ball. However, cognizant we must be mindful if COVID-19 prevents us from having the ball, with the monies that were collected prior to the decision to cancel The Deb Ball, the souvenir booklet will still be created and available for online display. The souvenir booklet will also be displayed at community events, networking sessions, and local businesses, for additional marketing.
19. What happens to the sponsorship monies if we are not able to have the Ball on June 12, 2021 due to the Pandemic?
We are hopeful we will be blessed to move forward with our once a month workshops and The Debutante Ball. However, cognizant we must be mindful if COVID-19 prevents us from having the ball, with the monies that were collected prior to the decision to cancel The Deb Ball, the sponsorship packages will be used toward issuance of scholarships, specified ad page (contingent on package) will be published in souvenir booklet and maybe continuation of organization programs and trainings via virtual or in person settings.
